Tudor Griffiths invests in Fuchs for their recycling site in Ellesmere.

Material Handlers

The new Fuchs MHL331 F series is the latest acquisition by the TG Enviro division, which is committed to delivering the very best results from all the waste that is processed on all the Tudor Griffiths Group’s sites.

The Tudor Griffiths Group is one of the UK’s leading independent businesses in the supply of construction materials and building supplies, ready-mixed concrete, skip hire, waste management and recycling. Furthermore, as part of the company’s commitment to increasing the amount of recycling of incoming waste at their Wood Lane site in Ellesmere, they have now built a £4.5 million Biomass plant and drying facility. The team recycles a vast majority of the waste they process, including wood, bricks, metal, paper, cardboard and ferrous metal, so only a small percentage of the waste that comes into the MRF goes to landfill.

TG had been running a competitor machine at their site in Ellesmere but found the machine wasn’t versatile enough to handle the diverse range of waste that they were processing. Therefore, TG desired a machine that could be used in a range of applications such as; processing commercial, wood and domestic waste, as well as loading wagons with biomass wood-chip. This lead Jamie Jones, Group Transport Manager at TG to contact Blue Group to see if they had an appropriate machine available.

Chris Matthews, head of Fuchs sales at Blue Central, offered the company a recently updated Fuchs MHL331 F series. Due to its diverse applications and incredible manoeuvring capabilities, the Fuchs MHL331 F offers flexibility matched with the required speed of cycles necessary in recycling. The MHL331 F is fitted with a standard 10.7-meter reach and Arden 1402 sorting grab, which offers a superb reach and lifting ability for the waste industry. The machine is also coupled with powerful and quick hydraulics, as well as, a Deutz 4.1 litre 115Kw tier 4 final engine ensuring class-leading fuel efficiency. Furthermore, Blue Central supplied Tudor Griffiths with a full waste pack specification, meaning the MHL331 F can work in enclosed dusty environments with ease, thanks to its reversing fans, dust suppression and air intake pre-filters.

Jamie was highly complimentary of the MHL331 F series, as he comments “The MHL331F ticks all the boxes for us, it has allowed us to use one machine for lots of different applications around the site, making our operation much more efficient. It is also extremely precise in its handling and is very comfortable to work in”.

The company wasn’t only impressed with the machine but with the back-up and support that Blue Group offers as the company didn’t receive the aftersales support that they required with their previous material handling machine. Jamie Jones explains, “A big part of our machinery purchasing decisions comes down to the aftercare service that firms can provide, we just didn’t receive good customer service with our last machine. Poor back-up support can really affect your operation; therefore, it is reassuring to know that Blue has an excellent spares facility and reliable service engineers across the country.”

It is also an exciting time for Blue Central as TG’s purchase of the MHL331 was their first Fuchs machine sold since Blue Fuchs was integrated into Blue Group’s regional businesses. Aidan McGeary, General Manager at Blue Central comments, “It is great for Blue Central to have sold their first Fuchs machine since the merger to an advanced company, such as TG. Working with Jamie and his team have been a pleasure, I am glad we have supplied a machine that is perfectly suited to the company’s requirements.”
