Enterprise Skiphire installs tailor-made BlueMAC recycling plant

Waste Systems

Enterprise Skiphire has recently invested in an extremely innovative, custom made recycling plant to enhance the company’s waste processing capacity in addition to improving the quality of the end-products generated.

Based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Enterprise Skiphire provide a wide range of skips suitable for all types of jobs – big or small. When looking to expand their existing recycling system, consisting of a trommel and simple picking isle, Enterprise Skiphire turned to equipment distributor Blue London and its sister company BlueMAC manufacturing, and have reported excellent results since the plant was first installed. The plant currently processes a mix of C&D and municipal waste at around 50 tonne per day; meaning an initial rate of between 5 and 10 tonnes per hour but with considerable growth possible. As well as contributing towards the company’s growth in waste recycling, the plant will also play a huge role in minimizing tip-to-landfill. And with its built in future proof versatility, it is more than capable of handling other waste materials should the need arise.

In terms of the plant’s current process, the initial waste material is loaded into a hopper and an overband magnet is then used to extract any ferrous material. The remaining material is then fed into a 25-70 trommel, sized 2.5m wide and 7m long, which extracts 2 grades of fines – 10mm and 25mm. The material then moves onto an incline conveyor, whereby a blower separates light fraction, before it enters the manual picking station. Within the picking station there are 5 double sided bays, all fitted with relief bins, whereby wood, cardboard, mud, non-ferrous material and general waste is separated. The remaining product, hardcore, is then transported to the end of the plant by conveyor.

Commenting on the company’s new purchase, Operations Manager Philip Burch, said “this is our first purchase with Blue Machinery London and their experience, expertise and excellent customer service throughout the process has been second to none. From the initial design manufacturing stage, right through to the installation of the plant, Blue have provided invaluable communication and have played an active role throughout”. He also commented on the plant’s ability to help expand Enterprise’s recycling capabilities, stating “in just a matter of days the plant has enhanced our throughput efficiency and the potential for growth is huge.”
