With his 25 years’ experience in the crushing and screening industry, along with a certified technical background in mechanics, hydraulics, fabrication and the setup of mobile and stationary crushing and screening equipment, Blue are delighted to announce that Tony Weir has joined the business as Technical Director.

In addition to his extensive experience Tony also attended the University of Derby where he became certified in International Quarry Operations and is a long standing member of the Institute of Quarrying.

Tony’s previous employment ranges from Service Technician, Service Manager and New Product Manager which involved researching global markets in order to drive design across the Powerscreen crushing and screening ranges. During his career at Powerscreen, Tony was also in charge of arranging test facilities on new products and was involved in bringing new products to market for the Powerscreen Brand. In more recent years, employment included heading the Technical Sales and Applications Department within Powerscreen, with responsibilities in training the global crushing and screening sales teams, as well as being involved directly with customers to help evaluate applications and provide technical data, cost analyses and examples of equipment that works the best for the customer.

Tony’s most recent position during a longstanding and distinguished career at Powerscreen was that of Global Technical Solutions Manager for the Group within Terex.

This involved the evaluation and education of the company’s Dealer Network, not only in existing markets but also to work with and develop dealers in new territories to the required level.

On his move to Blue, Tony commented, “My decision to move to the Blue Group from Powerscreen was to further my career with a role that allowed me to get closer to the customers on the ground. It will enable me to get a better understanding of their business and what is important to them with regard to purchasing equipment that ultimately has to give a good return on investment. Within the Blue organisation, I believe it gives me the opportunity to work with a very professional group of people and bring my experiences into play to ultimately assist the customer to make the correct choice when purchasing expensive heavy equipment.

During his short time at Blue, Tony has been evaluating the individual sectors of the Blue Group in order to look at best practice, identifying areas that can be improved with regard to sales, service and service support. The result will be to setup a full training academy which will cover the full portfolio of Blue products. Initially this will focus on set-up, operation, fault finding and preventative maintenance regimes for not only internal Staff, but also for customers and their staff. The first training seminar to be held in the early part of the 4th quarter of 2015.
