New Powerscreen Metrotrak for Lanz Group

Crushers

Leading Waste Management Company Lanz Group, who have various sites in Berkshire as well as two in Maidenhead and one at Heathrow, have recently purchased a new Powerscreen Metrotrak mobile jaw crusher from Blue London, a company they have been working with since Lanz bought their first Powerscreen Powertrak from Eugene Donnelly back in 1994.

Lanz is a third-generation family business, set up in 1943, and now provides a comprehensive waste management solution for local businesses. These include skip, roll on/roll off, grab, tipper, sweeper and wheelie bin services.

In addition to this extensive range of services, Lanz also take great pride in going the extra mile for their clients, offering a dependable, personal service that is always flexible and responsive for their loyal customer base. Following strong growth over recent years, Lanz were looking to purchase a crusher, having previously hired for many years. Following extensive market research, they selected the Powerscreen Metrotrak for a number of reasons, including its size as it is small enough to work at their Colnbrook site near Heathrow Airport and also due to the fact that it is very quiet when processing.

Other key features of this class leading crusher include a hydraulically adjusted, fuel effcient direct drive chamber as standard, meaning users beneft from an ability to quickly and easily change fnished product size with minimal running costs. The machine also incorporates a stepped self-cleaning grizzly feeder, a fully skirted product conveyor up to the overhead magnet and a grizzly bypass and fnes chute.

Furthermore, withoperators such as Lanz now demanding machines which are easy to service and maintain, the Metrotrak offers exceptional maintenance and access via centralised hydraulics and electrics as well as excellent internal access and platforms.

Lanz spoke to a number of other companies before making the final decision on which machine to go for, including Mr Gary Short, Managing Director of The Shorts Group, who highly recommended the Metrotrak crusher. The machine will be working in a number of locations, including the company’s sites at Maidenhead and Heathrow, so ease of transportation and short set up times was of key importance for Lanz, as was highlighted by the company’s Recycling Manager, Simon Marks. “It’s a very versatile machine and as it is under 30 tonnes can be transported easily between our depots”. Of course, it’s not just about the machine, it’s also about the relationship Lanz has with Blue Group, as company owner Douglas Hepworth goes onto describe, “I’ve been friends with Eugene for many years, meaning there is a great deal of respect between us. We have a good working relationship with Blue who have proved to be a very trustworthy company”.

The machine is crushing concrete and brick brought in to the yard to create a 6F2/6F5 or alternatively screened to create a Type 1. These products are then being used as a building base, for road construction or as hard standing.

Blue Group Director Eugene Donnelly commented, “It is always a pleasure to work with Douglas and the team at Lanz. The Metrotrak perfectly suits their requirements, particularly with the site being so tight at Heathrow”.
