Three Major Scottish Customers Choose Powerscreen for the First Time

Crushers

Grange Quarry, Barrachander Quarry and Miller Plant have recently chosen Powerscreen equipment for the first time, having previously been loyal Sandvik customers. Miller Plant provide contract crushing and earthworks contracting services nationwide, as well as owning and operating their own quarries.

Barrachander Quarry is an independent quarry situated on the west coast of Scotland and is capable of supplying large scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects with high quality aggregates as well as heavy plant hire and contract crushing. Grange Quarry also supply quality aggregates throughout Scotland and the North of England, as well as mobile concrete solutions, tipper and truck mixer hire and technical solutions.

The machine of choice for all these customers is the Powerscreen 1000 Maxtrak. This mobile cone crusher has been designed for direct feed applications without the need for pre-screening on clean rock. At the centre of the machine is the Automax®cone crusher, providing both excellent reduction and product cubicity for the creation of quality aggregate and sub-base material. Hydraulic release capabilities incorporated within the 1000 Maxtrak ensure that any un-crushable material moving in to the chamber is discharged safely.

Made on a heavy-duty chassis and track frame the machines comes with a dust suppression system as standard and fitted with Powerscreen’s Pulse Telematics system. Pulse offers key information via an app, including GPS location, tonnages, start and stop times, cone settings, fuel consumption, wear ratings, maintenance status, operating hours, and much more.

Even though the machines have only been in a short time, the customers are already noticing the benefits over their predecessors. Ian Miller, Managing Director of Miller plant highlighted that the 1000 Maxtrak Cone Crusher was ‘offering increased production and quality of finished product’. Calum McCrae, Director at Barrachander Quarry highlighted improved fuel efficiency as well as more production and better shape. Calum also commented “The customer service from Blue is second to none. Sales Manager Dermot Donaghy is always available, and we have access to Owen Gourley, Blue Scotland, Technical Manager 24/7, which is a big thing for us”. Finally, Stuart Dodd from Grange Quarry stated, “We are really impressed both with the shape of the material coming off, as well as the feed size which is an improvement over our old machine”. Stuart also went on to say “The benefit of working with Blue Scotland this time around is that they have more guys on the ground for back up and support”.

The machines will be working in a variety of capacities, including tertiary crushing to create an asphalt aggregate, making MOT Type 1, creating sub-base, as well as working with screeners to make single sizes and even on hire for windfarm development projects.
Commenting on the sale of these machines Dermot Donaghy, Sales Manager at Blue Scotland said. “All three of these customers had been using competitor machines for many years, meaning they knew those machines inside out. For these guys to move over illustrates the quality of Powerscreen as they had to be notably superior in order for them to make the switch. As always at Blue Scotland we appreciate their business, it is great that they buy in to our philosophy of exceptional aftersales support as well as the sale of quality machinery”.
