Committed to sustainability, Peel Ports aims to be carbon neutral by 2040. Their continuous investment in infrastructure and technology highlights their commitment to innovation and growth, significantly contributing to regional economies and global trade connectivity.

Peel Ports recently purchased a Terex Fuchs MHL 380F material handler, equipped with an OilQuick OQC90 quick coupling system, for use at their Runcorn docks facility. This addition expands their growing fleet of Fuchs machines operating across the UK. Notably, the OilQuick coupling system is a first for Peel Ports and among the first being used on a material handler within the UK.

Kevin Richardson, Business Unit Manager at Peel Ports Logistics, emphasised the benefits: “When unloading ships, we switch between a clamshell grab and a rotating hook multiple times daily. The OQC 90 system, recommended by Blue Machinery, allows operators to switch between attachments from inside the comfort of the cab, improving both efficiency and safety. We have cut our attachment changeover time from 5 minutes to 30 seconds, whilst also reducing the risk of injury to our operators, who are no longer having to manually change the attachment and replace hoses.”

Peel Ports utilises the MHL 380F for handling various bulk and bagged products, from sodium sulphate to glass and stone. The MHL 380F features a 245 kW (328 HP) Stage V engine, has a maximum operating weight of 71.8 tons, and a maximum reach of 22 meters. Thanks to Fuchs’ modular design principle, the MHL 380 can also be individually adapted to meet your needs. Banana booms for unloading ships, wide crawler undercarriages for minimal ground pressure or pylons for increased visibility.

Kevin commended the Fuchs product and Blue Machinery’s support: “Our experience with Fuchs at the Ellesmere Port facility has shown it to be an outstanding machine. Blue Machinery Central provides excellent service, promptly dispatching engineers whenever needed. Additionally, Blue Spares offers high-quality and efficient parts service, ensuring our machines are always operational.”

Peel Ports continues to advance their operations with cutting-edge technology and reliable equipment, ensuring enhanced efficiency and safety across their locations. If you’d like to find out more on either the Fuchs or OilQuick range, get in touch with your local Blue Machinery dealership today.
