With over 50 years of maritime expertise, GPS Marine has established itself as a leading force in the industry, operating across European ports and harbours. Based in Upnor, Kent, the company delivers a comprehensive range of marine services, including civil engineering, dredging, offshore demolition, towage, and cargo transport. With a strong operational presence on the Thames and Medway, GPS Marine remains committed to providing innovative, cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest standards in health and safety, equal opportunities, and environmental protection.
To support its materials handling operations, GPS Marine recently took delivery of its third Fuchs MHL 360F from Blue Machinery. With all three machines working on the River Thames discharging GPS Marine’s barges, the latest addition is a port-spec MHL 360F, featuring a banana boom and fitted with an Arden Clamshell Grab to enhance efficiency in aggregate handling. The new machine is actively being used to unload processed dredged aggregates and sand that has been loaded into their barges and delivered to concrete batching plants using their tugs, ensuring a seamless and productive operation.
The Fuchs MHL 360F is designed for heavy-duty material handling in port environments. Equipped with a 255 hp Stage V engine, it delivers powerful performance with excellent fuel efficiency. The machine’s 18-meter reach and 48.8-tonne service weight make it ideally suited for GPS Marine’s operations. Advanced hydraulic technology, including a closed swivel circuit, enables rapid and energy-efficient loading cycles, while safety-enhancing features like pipe rupture valves with a regeneration function ensure reliable performance in demanding conditions. Additionally, the machine is fitted with Fuchs Connect telematics, providing 24/7 remote monitoring to maximise uptime and operational efficiency.
With its growing fleet of Fuchs material handlers, GPS Marine continues to prioritise reliability and productivity on the Thames. GPS Marine’s Managing Director John Spencer commented:
"We rely on robust, efficient machines to keep our operations running smoothly, and the Fuchs MHL 360F has consistently delivered on performance and durability. This latest addition allows us to increase our efficiency when handling concrete aggregates, and the team at Blue Machinery (Southern) has been excellent in supporting our fleet’s growth."
By investing in high-performance material handling solutions, GPS Marine continues to strengthen its capabilities in maritime logistics and infrastructure development, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the industry for years to come.
