Molloy Metals Ltd was established in 1994 by John Molloy when he purchased a mobile car crusher, before moving into the scrap industry in 1999. It is a family run business and has expanded steadily since its formation. With sites in both Ballycarney and New Ross, Co. Wexford, Molloy Metals is able to serve its ever-expanding customer base throughout the whole of Ireland.

With 32 employees currently working on site, Molloy Metals have lorries out on the road every day, collecting a wide range of materials, including; end of life cars, glass, tyres, all types of metal (steel/cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, copper) and old mattresses.

Molloy Metals were starting to see problems with the baler they were using, which was bought in 2007. The throughput wasn’t meeting the demands needed from the machine, which was slowing down production, meaning that their boats taking out the finished product were either getting held up or leaving with smaller loads.

The decision was made to buy a new baler, John from Molloy Metals looked at a few different alternatives. Once he spoke with Liam from Blue Ireland, he was sold on the Taurus Baler. Molloy Metals already have a good relationship with Blue Ireland and Liam, having taken on Fuchs material handlers and various other machines from them in the past.

John Molloy, Owner of Molloy Metals, comments on the key benefits which sold the machine to him; “It’s strong, well built and extremely fast! The extra throughput that this baler gives, means that we can keep on top of our scrap, which is vital for us, as space is at a premium”.

John goes on to explain why he decided to go with Blue Ireland and Liam; “Blue are diverse and have an answer to all of our problems. To date we have taken, multiple Fuchs Material Handlers, a Fortress Shear attachment, a Doppstadt trommel SM 518 and a BlueMAC All Metal Separator. We are also very impressed with Blue’s back up and support, as we have bought products from companies before with no engineers this side of the country to look at the machines. With this baler, we know we can connect it to the internet and the engineer can fix the problem from their end, and if a site visit is required, Blue will be with us in no time”.

“Molloy Metals and Blue Ireland have a valued, longstanding relationship which has led to Molloy Metals expanding their fleet with a variety of products supplied by Blue Ireland over the past number of years. Blue Ireland are delighted to continue this strong business relationship in the current year with Molloys investment in the market leading Taurus 772.” Liam Brophy, Director of Blue Ireland.
