Blue Group Appoint Michael Strain

Due to strong recent growth, plant design and build specialist BlueMAC, has announced the appointment of Michael Strain as General Manager.

BlueMAC, which is based in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, is part of Blue Group, and offers a full range of services from consultation on the most effective plant components for a specific waste stream, through to plant design, project management and, as you would expect from Blue Group, strong aftersales service.

Reporting directly to Blue Group’s CEO, Adrian Murphy, Michael will be responsible for managing all day to day activities at BlueMAC as the business expands in both domestic and overseas markets.

Michael has previously worked in a number of senior positions within the oil industry, most recently as General Manager for Topaz, a leading supplier of lubricants and fuels to both commercial and the domestic market across both Northern and Southern Ireland. Within this role, he oversaw a number of company acquisitions made by Topaz as well full business system implementations. Prior to this Michael worked for Shell Oil for almost 10 years in a number of key management roles. These included leading the team on the implementation of SAP business system, as well as managing the Shell’s authorised dealerships throughout the whole of Ireland.

Michael comes into a business with a strong order book, having recently secured a number of significant international deals. Due to this, as well as making sure those projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the high design and build standards synonymous with BlueMAC, he highlights that his main initial focus will be in growing relationships with customers as well as developing the company’s R&D expertise. “A key priority for me is further enhancing our growing reputation on the world stage. Furthermore, Research and Development is key for our business, so will be a primary focus, as we look to expand our portfolio of products”.

In the longer term, the business is focused on growing on its recent success, becoming a global leader in the manufacture of cutting edge recycling systems, material recovery facilities and bespoke machinery.
